The median bank appraisal value for housing rose 14 euros (0.9%) in January compared to December 2023 and 4.4% year-on-year, to 1,550 euros per square meter (m2), INE announced today.
According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Autonomous Region of Madeira showed the biggest increase compared to the previous month (4.0%), with the remaining regions showing positive variations, with the exception of Oeste e Vale do Tejo, which showed zero variation.
Compared to January 2023, the most intense variation was also seen in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (19.5%), with only one decrease in the Algarve (-0.5%).
In January, the number of bank appraisals – carried out as part of credit applications for house purchase – was around 28,900, down 2.0% on the previous period and up 30.8% year-on-year.
