A kayak carrying six young people overturned this morning on Santo Amaro Beach in Oeiras due to sea waves, but they managed to get out of the sea on their own, a source from the Maritime Police told Lusa.
The same source specified that the alert was given at 08:00 and the Maritime Police activated the means necessary for the rescue, but they were not used because the young people managed to get out of the sea without help.
The kayak capsized in the area where the waves were breaking and the Maritime Police are warning of sea turbulence in various parts of the country, so you should take every precaution.
The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) has placed the districts of Faro, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo and Beja on a yellow warning (the lowest on a scale of four) due to sea turbulence.
