The family of an ex-girlfriend of Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, has informed the German police that the British child’s remains may be buried in the old garden of their rented house in the Algarve. The German authorities have already passed this information on to their Portuguese counterparts, according to the German prosecutor in charge of the case.
Dieter F, a hospital van driver, has already given evidence twice to the German authorities about the case of the missing girl and explains to The OlivePress that he believes his daughter, Bureckner’s ex-girlfriend, is involved: “I told the German BKA police twice that they should dig up the garden and the house. Unfortunately, I believe that she is responsible and that making easy money is everything to her.”
Christian Brueckner, currently on trial for five sex crimes in Portugal, owned land behind a large detached villa in Foral, less than 45 minutes’ drive from where Maddie disappeared in 2007. Brueckner denies any involvement in the McCann case and has never been formally charged. Dieter F also revealed that Brueckner said he had a hiding place in his caravan: “He mentioned that he had a hiding place in his caravan big enough to ‘hide a small child’.”
Dieter’s daughter, a mother of three who lives in Schweinfurt, has already been interviewed four times by the police about Brueckner’s movements at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance. Dieter and her wife, Corinne, are “convinced” that their daughter is involved in the Maddie case. Dieter commented: “When we tried to contact her about it, she got very angry.”
Lia Silva, the current owner of the villa, Villa Bianca, said she would welcome a police search of the property. She told reporters:
“I’ve always said that it’s important to resolve this case once and for all, and if that means bringing in bulldozers, that’s fine,” he says.
Silva also reported that the former tenant and her “various boyfriends” were a “problem” and that she left a significant rent debt, leaving the place in “total chaos”.
Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters confirmed that the information provided by Dieter has been passed on to the Portuguese police, but he doesn’t know if any action will be taken. Wolters added: “I can’t confirm how many times we’ve spoken to this lady, but it’s several times. She’s a witness in the Maddie case, but I can’t say how important she is.”
