A 43-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday, August 25, on suspicion of domestic violence in the parish of Arroios, Lisbon.
The alert was given by the victim herself “from inside her home,” according to the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP (Cometlis).
According to the statement, officers went to the scene and observed “the suspect entering his personal vehicle to flee,” but he was eventually intercepted and detained.
“With the victim, a 32-year-old woman who had various injuries, it was found that the boyfriend, in addition to assaulting her, had also tried to lock her in the room before attempting to escape,” the statement adds.
The woman was “transported to the hospital unit for evaluation and primary care” due to her injuries.
After being presented to the Central Court of Criminal Investigation, the judge released the detainee but prohibited him from contacting the victim.
