The commander of the Benedita fire department, Carlos Pacheco, told Lusa news agency that at 10:37 AM, the fire department was called to a work accident in the locality of Venda da Rega.
“A 52-year-old man was doing painting work near an electrical box and died by electrocution, falling from a height of six meters,” explained the commander.
At the scene, there were 16 operatives and eight vehicles, including the medical emergency and resuscitation vehicle from Caldas da Rainha, an ambulance from the Benedita fire department, and a psychological support vehicle from the National Institute of Emergency Medicine.
Psychological support was activated because the man “lived nearby” the accident site and family members were present, added Carlos Pacheco.
At 1:00 PM, the body was still at the scene for investigation into the causes of the accident.
GNR (National Republican Guard) officers were also present at the location.
