One of the firefighters who assisted the victim had to receive psychological support due to his condition.
A 58-year-oldmanwas killed by a bull on Saturday afternoon on Terceira Island in the Azores.
According to RTP Açores, which reported the news, the man was helping to select the herd for a bullfight in the parish of Santa Bárbara when he fell into the corral and was fatally struck by the animal.
The alert was given to 112 at 5pm. Despite the help provided by the Immediate Life Support team and six firefighters, when they arrived at the scene, the man was already lifeless.
The death was eventually certified by the authorities at the scene.
According to RTP Açores, due to the victim’s condition, one of the firefighters had to receive psychological support.
It should be remembered that this is not the first fatality on Terceira Island in the context of the bullfighting festival. Every year, hundreds of Festa Brava-related injuries are admitted to the region’s hospitals. Some even end up dying.
