Manu Chao and Miguel Araújo & Os Quatro e Meia at AgitÁgueda

The musicians Manu Chao and Miguel Araújo & os Quatro e Meia are the first confirmations for the 17th edition of AgitÁgueda, which takes place from July 6 to 28 in Águeda, in the district of Aveiro, it was announced today.

In addition to the concerts and urban art, the festival, which is free to enter, includes street entertainment, DJ performances, gastronomy, handicrafts, sports and nautical activities.

The municipality, which is promoting the event, announced today the first additions to the musical line-up, namely the French-born musician of Spanish origin Manu Chao and the Portuguese Miguel Araújo & Os Quatro e Meia.

Manu Chao will perform on July 16, three days after his appearance at the Contrasta festival in Valença, and on the last day of the festival Miguel Araújo and Os Quatro e Meia will take to the stage.

Born in Paris to an exiled Spanish family, Manu Chao adopts several languages in his artistic work, which has had a marked political component since the days of the band Mano Negra.

His rise to fame came with the 1998 album “Clandestino”, on which he sang: “Alone I go with my sentence, alone goes my condemnation / Running is my destiny to evade the law / Lost in the heart of the great Babylon / They tell me ‘the clandestine’ because I don’t have papers”.

AgitÁgueda focuses on emerging artists, promoting new musical projects through “Talentos AgitÁgueda”, offering a program aimed at all audiences.
