Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) finished 16th in today’s MotoGP German Grand Prix sprint race, the seventh race of the season, won by Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati).
Oliveira, who started precisely 16th, crossed the line 13.837 seconds behind Jorge Martin, who won by 2.468 seconds from second-placed Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and 3.287 seconds from Australian Jack Miller (KTM).
Starting from pole position, Bagnaia was the first race leader, while Miguel Oliveira was involved in a collision with Spaniard Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) and dropped to 19th place.
Jack Miller increased his pace and took the lead, taking advantage of a mistake by Bagnaia who missed the brake.
Oliveira, meanwhile, moved up two places to 17th.
Until Jorge Martin attacked on the third lap, passing Bagnaia and Miller in one fell swoop.
From then on, the Madrilenian went all out, breaking the circuit record and gaining around two seconds on Bagnaia, who also pulled away from Miller.
Miguel Oliveira moved up to 16th place when Spaniard Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) crashed out.
With these results, Bagnaia, who is the defending champion and championship leader, maintains a 21-point lead over second-placed Jorge Martin.
Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) moved up to third place, with 113 points, while Miguel Oliveira is 17th with 21 points.
Sunday is the main race of the weekend.
