The Minister of Internal Affairs said today that the mission supplement for PSP and GNR is not the government’s only priority for the police, referring an answer to the negotiations that begin on April 22.
“The priority has to do with what this government is committed to. The priorities are all the same, we have to have a modern, effective police force with the resources that dignify it,” Margarida Blasco told reporters at the end of a meeting with all the PSP unions and GNR associations.
The minister considered that the problems of the Public Security Police and the National Republican Guard “are not just the mission allowance”.
Without giving any figures or whether the government will grant a mission supplement identical to that of the Judicial Police, Margarida Blasco said that a negotiation process will begin on April 22.
“Negotiations are about to begin, we’re going to see all the scheduled points,” he said.
The award of a mission supplement to police officers, identical to the one awarded by the previous government to members of the Judicial Police, is the main demand of members of the PSP and GNR, who staged several protests in the first two months of the year.
