More than 40 municipalities in seven districts at maximum fire danger

According to the IPMA (Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere), several municipalities across all districts of mainland Portugal are currently at a very high and high risk of fire.

The weather forecast for today in the mainland predicts generally clear skies, with increasing cloudiness in the extreme north, strong winds along the western coast and in highland areas, and a slight increase in maximum temperatures, except in the northern region.

Minimum temperatures will range between 11 degrees Celsius (in Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, Bragança, Guarda, Coimbra, and Leiria) and 20 (in Castelo Branco), while maximum temperatures will vary from 22 (in Aveiro) to 34 (in Évora).

According to IPMA calculations, the fire danger will remain high in some districts at least until Sunday.

This risk, determined by IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum. The calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and the amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
