The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) warned today that an air mass with dust from North Africa is forecast for Saturday, which could affect air quality in the Algarve, Lisbon and the interior of the country.
According to the APA, this mass of air coming from the deserts of North Africa and which will mostly pass through Spain will have “a negligible increase in the concentration of particles in the air” in Portugal.
The APA stresses that in the event of precipitation there will be an improvement in air quality with the dragging of particles in the so-called ‘mud rains’.
In these cases, the health authorities recommend that people stay indoors, wear masks when going outside and avoid outdoor sports activities.
Just under a month ago, Portugal was also affected by dust from the deserts of North Africa.
