The case is being denounced by an environmental group, which criticizes the privatization of the access to the Formosa beach.
Cristiano Ronaldo is cooking up a new project in his native Madeira that is already generating a lot of controversy. It is a real estate investment consisting of two blocks of apartments, whose total number is 213, and that is located next to a part of Formosa beach, in Funchal, according to ‘TV 7 Dias’.
After the regional government of Madeira had, in 2014, given up the right of first refusal of this land worth three million euros, arguing financial constraints, it was bought by Ponta de Lança, a company owned by CR7 and his brother, Hugo Aveiro.
Unhappy with this situation because he believes that the executive of Alberto João Jardim should have activated this right, Flávio Silva, member of the environmental group The Guardians of the Laurissilva indicates the position of this construction next to the largest free-access beach in Funchal as the biggest point of revolt, pointing out to the same publication that the only non-privatized portion of this beach will be very small.
Additionally, there are environmental issues to be discussed, as the construction, which is expected to be completed in 2025, is positioned in an area where the sea has seen considerable advancement. The footballer’s representatives have not yet commented on this case.
