Portuguese tennis players Nuno Borges and Francisco Cabral were eliminated today in the first round of doubles at the Bastad tournament in Sweden, losing to Gonzalo Escobar, from Ecuador, and Aleksandr Nedovyesov, from Kazakhstan, in three sets.
In the Swedish clay event, Borges and Cabral won the first set 6-1, but allowed their opponents, the first seed, to turn the match in their favor, winning the following sets 6-3 and 10-5, after an hour and 19 minutes.
With this result, the doubles table has no Portuguese representatives, but in the singles Borges will be fighting for a place in the quarter-finals against compatriot Henrique Rocha on Thursday.
