Portuguese tennis player Nuno Borges will face Frenchman Lucas Pouille in the first round of the Estoril Open, the Portuguese ATP 250, which will take place between Monday and April 7 at the Estoril Tennis Club.
The draw, made on Saturday, had put the national number one waiting for the outcome of the qualifying round, which ended today, to know his first opponent and the Gaul, 242nd in the ATP rankings, was the player drawn.
Pouille overcame compatriot Richard Gasquet 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in his second qualifying match to qualify for the main draw of the Estoril Open, setting up an unprecedented clash on Monday with the world number 61 from Maio.
Jaime Faria, the only Portuguese player to have successfully passed the qualifying stage and secured entry to the main draw of an ATP tournament for the first time, will face Frenchman Constant Lestienne (93rd ATP).
Britain’s Jan Choinski, who knocked out Portugal’s Duarte Vale 6-3, 6-4, will meet Brazil’s João Fonseca, who was awarded a wild card, while Spain’s Pablo Llamas Ruiz will face Germany’s Dominik Koepfer.
