Pingo Doce donated 5.3 thousand tons of food to more than 520 social organizations. These donations impacted more than 100,000 people in 2023.
Supporting social emergency situations and filling food shortages are two of Pingo Doce’s priorities, which support social solidarity institutions in the communities surrounding its more than 480 stores throughout the country, such as Food Banks, IPSS, NGOs, Social Centers and Santas Casas da Misericórdia, through the donation of surplus food.
“This support for communities is part of Pingo Doce’s way of being as a company and as a neighborhood supermarket that is present in people’s daily lives. The aim is to give back with what we specialize in, food, helping to minimize inequalities in society through access to food,” said Filipa Pimentel, Director of Sustainable Development and Local Impact at Pingo Doce.
