The PJ reveals that the crime took place following an argument, apparently for futile reasons.

The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a 23-year-old man for “strong evidence” of attempted murder in Albufeira, and the suspect was remanded in custody, the agency announced on Saturday.

In a statement, the PJ said it had “arrested a 23-year-old man for strong evidence of the crime of attempted murder in Albufeira”, Faro, in the Algarve.

“The investigation, led by the southern directorate, found that in the early hours of Friday morning, following an argument, apparently for frivolous reasons, the detainee assaulted someone with a firearm and then fled,” the PJ said in the same press release.

The victim “suffered such serious injuries that he had to be taken to the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve, where he has been hospitalized until today,” said the same source.
