The tender for the construction project was published today in the Official Gazette, with a total base price of 1,123,029.30 euros excluding VAT, within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan funding, through the Environmental Fund.
According to the publication, the intervention in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Aveiro, located in the Union of Parishes of Glória and Vera Cruz, was launched with a base price of 616,574 euros.
The investment planned for the CID of Leiria, located in the Union of Parishes of Leiria, Pousos, Barreira and Cortes, amounts to 507,455.20 euros.
The contract has an execution period of 150 days for both renovations.
The Aveiro Inspection of the Judicial Police had already been foreseen, on “paper”, by Decree-Law No. 128/79 of May 12 and by Ordinance 460/80 of August 4. However, it would only be officially inaugurated by the Minister of Justice, Mário Raposo, a few years later, on September 26, 1986, starting operations the following month, on October 15.
With the Organic Law of 2000, the Inspection would be renamed the Criminal Investigation Department of Aveiro, a nomenclature that it maintains to this day, according to information on the CID of Aveiro page.
On the CID of Leiria page, it states that although its existence was already contemplated in an Ordinance since 1980, it was only in 1997, with the extinction of the Tomar Inspection, that the Leiria Inspection began operations. It was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Justice, Vera Jardim, on October 10, 1997. The Leiria Inspection was installed in the same building where, years earlier, in 1993, the UNID – National Drug Information Unit had also been installed.
In 2000, the Inspection was renamed the Criminal Investigation Department, and in 2009 it was classified as a regional unit.
