Diario de la Republica de Portugal has published the portaria regulating the compensation of the country’s fishing and aquaculture operators for the cost overruns resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Portuguese government has allocated a budget of 23.5 million euros, co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (FEMPA), to be distributed as follows 6 million euros for the aquaculture sector; 8 million euros for fisheries; and 9.5 million euros for the processing and marketing of fisheries and aquaculture products.
As the Portaria points out, aquaculture operators affected by cost overruns between February 24 and December 31, 2022 can benefit from the aid.
The opening of the application period to receive the aid will be announced on the Portugal 2020 portal and on the Mar 2020 portal.
