“The Portuguese Government is open to considering that,” said Paulo Rangel in Brussels, during a ministerial meeting that is still ongoing.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that the country’s openness to this possibility is limited to specific elements of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, due to “scathing statements” that may contribute to exacerbating the climate of tension in the Middle East.
However, for this sanctions regime to be considered, a “European consensus” on the matter is necessary, Paulo Rangel emphasized.
