From now until November, ten locations will be serving up dishes from around the world, accompanied by music and entertainment. This second edition of the Street Food Tour will include gastronomic proposals for children.
Following on from the success of the first edition, the Street Food Tour is back on the road, offering dishes from all over the world served in Food Trucks. On dates associated with local celebrations, ten towns and villages will play host to the caravan, which will park in iconic locations for three days to spread not just food, but entertainment and fun, with this year’s event featuring more activities for children and street food just for them.
The next stop is Cartaxo, on June 16, 17 and 18, on the site of the Ateneu Artístico Cartaxense gymnastics evening. In addition to food, inflatables, tables and benches suitable for children
and benches will be set up in the garden of Plaça de Toiros. On July 21, 22 and 23, the stage is Seia, at the Serra da Estrela Interpretation Center Park. The event is associated with the traditional Seia Jazz & Blues. The warm August days in Óbidos welcome the caravan between the 11th and 13th, in association with the Bom Sucesso festival at the fishermen’s village on Vau beach.
Also in August, between the 25th and 27th, street food will be accompanied in Espinho by circus and street art performances in the Alameda, between 27th and 33rd streets. In September, on 1st, 2nd and 3rd, the peloton will stop in Penacova, at Mirante Emídio da Silva, with a big party for children. The following weekend, the stage will be Setúbal, and the “Street Food Tour” will join the town’s festivities at Largo José Afonso.
On September 15, 16 and 17, the Art’in Rua street arts festival will take place in the Várzea Pequena garden. In Tavira, from September 22 to 24, the stage is set for the XVIIth edition of the Youth Qualification and Inclusion Fair, and the month ends in Odemira, on September 29 and 20 and October 1, with the TassJazz festival. Ponte de Sor, on November 10, 11 and 12, is the final stop on the “Street Food Tour”, associated with the International Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Last but not least, I’ve made the most appetizing part of the program, the “Food Trucks” that will be touring Portugal. You’ll find the “Sabores do Kitaba”, with Angolan and Portuguese dishes such as “Choco frito” (fried cuttlefish), “Asinhas de frango” (chicken wings) and “Bacalhau” (cod). There’s also “Street Food Sabores da Estrada”, offering the best “bifanas”, as well as “Seitanas” – vegan bifanas, “Cachorros” and “Sandes de leitão”.
Go Mars” serves Thai food, “Urban” is dedicated to hamburgers and “Iconic Pizza” serves cone-shaped pizzas.Go bao” takes Taiwanese savory and sweet “Baos” on a journey around the country. Sweeter offerings include “La Paleta” with fruit ice creams and “Basstani” with pistachio and salted caramel ice creams, among others. In addition, local food trucks and demonstrations of Cuban, Cape Verdean and Mexican cuisine will also take place during theStreetFoodTour2023.You can follow this tour of Portugal on Instagram @streetfoodtourpt.
