A Public Security Police (PSP) officer from Setúbal, who had been fighting for his life since March of last year following a road accident, died on Monday, August 19. The death was confirmed by the Setúbal District Command.
“Principal Agent Márcio Luís passed away on August 19. Stationed at the Setúbal District Command headquarters, he served in the Immediate Prevention and Reaction Teams (EPRI) over the past few years,” reads a statement published on social media this Wednesday.
“To the family, friends, and all comrades, the Setúbal District Command extends its deepest condolences. Farewell, comrade,” it adds.
According to the regional newspaper O Setubalense, Márcio Luís and another colleague were on duty and riding a motorcycle when they were hit by a car in Setúbal in March of last year.
At the time, Márcio Luís, who was more seriously injured, had to be ventilated and transported to the Garcia de Orta Hospital in Almada, where he remained hospitalized until the day of his death.
