PSP records bus crash with 50 pilgrims in Lisbon with no injuries

The PSP registered on Friday four occurrences in the context of World Youth Day (WYD), marking an accident of a bus with about 50 pilgrims in Lisbon, without injuries to declare, announced today that security force.

According to the data released by the Internal Security System (SSI), referring to the fourth day of WYD, the PSP highlighted the bus accident on Avenida Doutor Alfredo Bensaúde.

A Moroccan citizen was also discovered in Jardim Amália Rodrigues, “hiding in the bushes and undocumented”.

“The necessary steps were taken and the individual was notified to appear at SEF [Foreigners and Borders Service],” he said.

The PSP also pointed out that a group of 10 Brazilian pilgrims were robbed of 766 euros and various personal items.

In Lisbon, the security force added, a Polish citizen had his cell phone, valued at €300, stolen by five people.

The PSP advises people not to put their personal belongings, such as their cell phone or wallet, in their back pockets, asking people to wear their “backpack facing forward” and avoid “poorly lit places”.

According to the Holy See, 800,000 people attended the Way of the Cross presided over by Pope Francis in Lisbon’s Parque Eduardo VII on Friday.

Lisbon is hosting the World Youth Day, with the presence of Pope Francis and which, until Sunday, brings together thousands of pilgrims from all over the world.
