PSP recovers suitcase that had been stolen at Lisbon airport

Suitcase on baggage claim

The Public Security Police (PSP) seized and recovered a suitcase on August 31 that had been stolen at Lisbon airport by a 61-year-old man.

The case dates back to August 24, when the rightful owner of the suitcase filed a complaint with the authorities.

In a statement, the PSP explains that the woman, “while making a layover at Lisbon airport,” was unable to “collect her suitcase from the baggage claim belt” due to it being a “short layover.”

“For this reason, she contacted the airline, which was unable to locate her suitcase,” the statement reads.

The suspect was later identified by the PSP.

The man “collected his own luggage and also the luggage that was circulating on another belt, exiting to the outside and continuing on his way.”

“Given the circumstances, contact was established with the suspect, who initially claimed that the collected suitcase was his, but when confronted, he ended up admitting to the theft of the luggage, whose value, including the objects inside, totals 1,200 euros,” concludes the PSP.
