Santa Casa reopens floor with 15 beds for continuing care in Cascais

According to Ângela Guerra, administrator of STML with the Integrated Continuous Care portfolio, with these 15 beds, the facility located in Aldeia do Juso will have a total of 83 beds, of which at least 46 are integrated into the National Network of Integrated Continuous Care.

Ângela Guerra stated that this increase in availability was made possible due to the rehabilitation of the fourth floor of the Maria José Nogueira Pinto Integrated Continuous Care Unit, which had been closed in December 2022.

The unit is intended for people who have been discharged from the hospital but need specific rehabilitation care that they would not be able to receive in a family environment, due to the support of a multidisciplinary team.

Medium-term rehabilitation stays and long-term maintenance stays are available.

The reopened floor has already received patients at the end of last week, with the remaining vacancies “all authorized to be occupied by the national network,” added the administrator.

The Maria José Nogueira Pinto Integrated Continuous Care Unit was the first SCML unit to be inaugurated in 2012.

In addition to this unit, SCML currently has two others: the São Roque Unit, in Parque de Saúde Pulido Valente, and the Queen Dona Leonor Unit, located in the former Military Hospital of Estrela complex, both in Lisbon.

In total, in these units, SCML provides 213 beds, 181 of which are counted in the National Network of Integrated Continuous Care.
