Santander’s profits grow 38% to 334 ME in the 1st semester

Santander’s profits grew 38% to 334 million euros in the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year, the financial institution’s chief executive, Pedro Castro e Almeida, announced today.

“The results we are presenting today are very positive, in line with what has been the rule of banks’ results, I would say, all over the world, particularly in Europe,” he said, highlighting the influence of interest rates, but also the “transformation journey” that the institution began a few years ago.

In the first half of the year, Santander obtained net income of €333.7 million, an increase of 38.3% compared to the €241.3 million recorded in the same period of the previous year.
