Sections 1 and 2 of the central massif of Serra da Estrela were reopened to traffic this afternoon, with sections 11, 12 and 13 remaining closed, a Civil Protection source told Lusa news agency.
According to the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, sections 1 and 2, which link Portela de Arão to Lagoa Comprida and Lagoa Comprida-Sabugueiro, were reopened to traffic at around 14:00.
Stretches 11 (Piornos-Torre), 12 (Torre-Torre) and 13 (Torre-Lagoa Comprida) have been closed to traffic since 17:00 on Friday.
The districts of Bragança, Viseu, Vila Real, Braga, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Guarda and Castelo Branco were under a yellow warning until 09:00 this morning due to forecasts of snowfall, the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said.
The IPMA warned of snowfall forecasts above 1,100 meters or 1,200 meters, depending on the district, and also predicted snow accumulation of between five centimeters and 10 centimeters.
