The home of the president of the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) General Assembly, Mário Costa, is one of the places searched today as part of an investigation by the Aliens and Frontiers Service (SEF).
A judicial source told the Pp news agency that one of the places searched is the home of the president of the LPFP general assembly, Mário Costa, and another a soccer academy in Riba D’Ave, in the municipality of Famalicão, in the district of Braga.
The Expresso website reports that Mário Costa has been charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, adding that he is suspected of human trafficking.
In a statement, SEF “confirms that an operation is underway in the Greater Porto region to carry out several searches”.
“SEF cannot, for the time being, give any further information, as the case has been placed under the seal of judicial secrecy. Further information will be provided in due course. For this morning’s operation, the SEF deployed a 50-strong team”, reads the SEF press release.
