The National Guard arrested seven men in several places in the Metropolitan Area of Porto on suspicion of drug trafficking and seized more than 3,600 doses of cocaine, hashish and marijuana.
In a statement, the Aveiro Territorial Command of the GNR says that the arrest of the seven suspects, aged between 25 and 56 years, was made in places of the Metropolitan Area of Porto by the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of Santa Maria da Feira.
“As part of an investigation for trafficking in narcotics, which had been ongoing for 18 months, the Guard carried out police searches in the municipalities of Santa Maria da Feira, Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Matosinhos, Valongo and Vila do Conde, which allowed to locate the suspects of a drug trafficking network,” adds the GNR.
The Guard reports that the operation “culminated in the fulfillment of two arrest warrants, 23 search warrants, 16 house searches and seven non-house searches, namely in vehicles and offices,” the GNR said in a statement.
According to the police source, 555 doses of hashish, 105 doses of powder cocaine and 2,966 doses of liamba were seized, along with 12 decimal scales.
For being allegedly related to drug trafficking were also seized five cars, a replica of a revolver and 34 euros in cash.
“The police action was reinforced by the Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Section of Aveiro, Aveiro Intervention Detachment,” as well as “the support of PSP from Porto, Matosinhos, Vila do Conde, Vila Nova de Gaia and the Special Police Unit,” the statement explains.
