Bathing at the Lenta river beach in Vila Nova de Cerveira, Viana do Castelo district, has been discouraged since today due to water contamination, according to the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).
The APA states that the advisory was issued today.
The reason for the advisory is microbiological contamination of the water.
In 2023, Lenta river beach was awarded the “Golden Quality Beach 2023” distinction by Quercus.
Between 2011 and 2023, the beach’s water quality had been consistently rated as excellent.
