The Board of Directors of TAP has already been notified of the draft opinion of the Inspector General of Finance on the payment of 500,000 euros in compensation to former manager Alexandra Reis.
The legal advice provided by SRS to TAP as part of the company’s restructuring process will end at the end of May, an official source at the law firm told Lusa on Saturday.
“SRS Legal confirms that the legal advice to TAP – which began in October 2020 for the company’s restructuring process – will end on May 31, 2023,” said an official source at Pedro Rebelo de Sousa’s law firm, when asked by Lusa.
SIC Notícias reported on Friday evening that the board of directors of TAP has already been informed of the draft opinion of the Inspectorate General of Finance (IGF) regarding the payment of 500 thousand euros in compensation to former manager Alexandra Reis, which “points to the existence of strong irregularities in the process”.
According to SIC, the former Secretary of State for the Treasury “was also notified by the IGF to contradict the draft opinion.
According to the TV station, both the TAP administration, led by Christine Ourmiéres Widener, and Alexandra Reis have already delivered their statements, so “the opinion of the IGF should be known soon.
Following this draft opinion, the SIC also announced that TAP had informed the law firm SRS that it wished to withdraw its services.
The law firm that advised TAP’s management was SRS, while Alexandra Reis was advised by Morais Leitão.
Contacted by the Lusa news agency, the airline’s official source would only say that “this is an ongoing process” and that “TAP will respect all its conclusions.
The Ministry of Finance, on the other hand, refused to comment.
