Traffic on the Northern Line, which was cut off in Paramos, in the municipality of Espinho, following a fatal accident, was restored around two hours after the incident, several sources said.

After an alert at 08:32 for a hit-and-run accident that caused one death, traffic was restored at around 10:30.

A source from Infraestruturas de Portugal told Lusa that traffic had been re-established on both roads. This information was also confirmed by the Aveiro PSP Metropolitan Command, which told Lusa at around 11:45 that the victim was a man aged around 30.

“There are no indications of foul play,” said the same source, pointing out that the incident occurred around 200 meters from the Paramos pier.

The train that hit the victim was traveling in the Oporto/Lisbon direction and the alert was given by the driver of the car, said the Aveiro PSP.

The body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Office in Santa Maria da Feira.

At the scene was an Emergency Medical Vehicle (VMER) from Vila Nova de Gaia, resources from the Espinho Volunteer Fire Brigade, the PSP, as well as officials from Comboios de Portugal (CP).
