Beachgoers at Tamariz Beach in Estoril, Cascais, got a scare early Sunday afternoon when a large fish approached the shoreline.
Lifeguards immediately raised the red flag, requiring all swimmers to exit the water.
Many thought it was a shark, but in reality, it was a swordfish, measuring about two meters in length.
Several internet users recorded the moment and shared it on social media.
