Vagos Metal Fest bets on other musical genres to attract more visitors

The Vagos Metal Fest, which runs from Thursday to Saturday, will have ‘hardcore’ and ‘hard rock’ bands, in order to attract more people to this festival in the district of Aveiro, the organization said today.

“The natural balance of the evolution of a music festival is to look for new audiences as well, that is, to consolidate the audience we already had and try to open the space to an audience that may not have been so attracted to the level of musical offer”, said, during the press conference presenting the event, the representative of the promoter Amazing Events Luís Salgado.

This year, the organization that involves more than 500 people has committed to bringing metal bands and also other musical styles.

“A lot of the poster is dedicated to metal, but there are always punk bands, hardcore and hard rock bands. That’s what we’re going to try to do this year. Introduce those kinds of subgenres, because we think it’s an environment that deserves to be shared with another audience as well,” he added.

Quinta do Ega, in the municipality of Vagos, Aveiro district, hosts for three days the Vagos Metal Fest, which is a reference in rock and metal in Portugal.

The venue has an area of about 8,000 square meters, out of a total area of 80,000, where national and international artists will perform.

The first day will see Sepultura, Alestorm, Be’lakor, Besta, Corpus Christii, Dagara, Dieth, Dragon’s Kiss, Sacred Sin and Vendetta FM perform.

On Friday it’s the turn of Ugly Kid Joe, Lost Tara, All Against, Gatecreeper, Glasya, Lecks Inc, Megara, Nervosa, Seventh Storm and Viciously Hateful.

Triptykon, Belphegor, Heidevolk, Imperial Triumphant, Midnight, Monuments, Praetor, Process Of Guilt, Pull The Trigger, Serrabulho and Urne perform on the final day on Saturday.

The event includes two stages – the main and the secondary – as well as a food court, a beer garden and a camping space.

The Mayor of Vagos, Silvério Regalado, stressed today that the festival has an immediate financial return, in addition to the impact on the image of the municipality.

“We believe, and we have proof of this, that this event, despite being aimed at a very specific type of public, brings returns to our municipality and, therefore, we decided to invest”, he reaffirmed.

The municipality invested directly 30 thousand euros in the Vagos Metal Fest.

According to the mayor, a study by Cision noted that this festival last year had an estimated financial return of around one million euros.

In 2022, Vagos Metal Fest was visited by about 20 thousand people, so the organization expects the number of visitors to be around the same number.

Tickets are available on the website vagosmetalfest.com and at the usual venues and cost €95 for a general pass and €45 for a day ticket.
