The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) launches the second edition of the WIPO Global Awards.
In 2023, this award will recognize Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), on a global scale, in all sectors of the economy – technology, agriculture, creative industries, among others – that make use of all forms of intellectual property (IP), from copyright to trademarks, patents and geographical indications.
This award will highlight the central role of innovative and creative activities of SMEs and recognize creators, inventors and designers who make efficient use of IP rights to achieve business goals while implementing this innovation and creativity for the benefit of society.
The winning SMEs will have access to promotion, international recognition and visibility, and to be present at the award ceremony. They will also have at their disposal a personalized mentoring program for commercialization of IP and a program to facilitate access to funding opportunities and partnerships.
In the launch edition of this initiative, in 2022, SMEs from China, Japan, the Netherlands and Singapore were the winners.
Applications can be submitted until March 31, 2023, and the winning SMEs will be revealed in July.
