Xutos & Pontapés celebrate 45 years in Porto in September

The band Xutos & Pontapés will celebrate the 45th anniversary of their career, and the birthday of guitarist Zé Pedro, on September 14, at Queimódromo, in Porto, the band announced.

The date chosen coincides with the birthday of musician Zé Pedro (1956-2017), one of the band’s founders in 1979.

In this concert, Xutos & Pontapés will play some of their hits, such as “Contentores”, “A Minha Casinha”, “Se me Amas”, “O Homem do Leme” or “Mundo ao Contrário” and “Circo de Feras”.

The first part of the concert, at the Queimódromo in Porto, will be performed by the rock project of Porto musician Gilberto Pinto, Meu General, and the band Conjunto!Evite, formed in 2010 by musicians Fábio Neves, José Deveza, Luís Rato and Sebastião Santos.

In connection with the concert, Comboios de Portugal (CP) is offering a 30% discount on tickets (return) for inter-regional, regional and intercity trains to Porto, between September 13 and 15, and a reduction of three euros on urban trains from Porto, on presentation of the ticket for the celebration of the 45th anniversary of Xutos & Pontapés.

The band is currently made up of musicians Tim, Kalú, João Cabeleira and Gui. They have been touring the country and, before the celebration in Porto, they will perform on Thursday in Santana, on the island of Madeira, and on Saturday at the Sol da Caparica Festival, on the Costa de Caparica. They also have shows planned in Viseu, on the 20th, in Bragança, on the 21st and, on the 26th, in Lagoa, in the Algarve.

As part of the band’s 45th anniversary, Xutos & Pontapés gave a concert in Lisbon for 200 people in January and performed at the Multiúsos in Guimarães in April.

At the end of 2019, they released “40 Anos a Dar no Duro”, a double album that brought together the 40 most remarkable songs of the band’s career, lined up in chronological order.

The collection begins with “Sémen”, the band’s first single, with lyrics by Zé Leonel and music by Tim, released in 1981 by broadcaster António Sérgio and producer of the band’s debut album, “78/82”, released in 1982.

In 2022 and 2023, the band marked the 35th anniversary of the album “Circo de Feras” with several concerts around the country, which included the participation of guitarist Tó Trips.
